2013 and 2014 Projects

Pudding Bag Productions was founded in the summer of 2013 by Wendy Freer and Mary Barker. Hisorical drama films started when a partnership was developed with Rising Stars Drama School, run by Jessie Andrews in Ashby de la Zouch.

Wendy and Mary worked with Jessie and her class and the young people worked up the script for "A Town Divided" through improvisation, using historical background information supplied by local historian Wendy Freer.

The result was our first historical drama which was Highly Commended in the County Heritage Awards of 2014.

A Town Divided

This film set out to show what it might have been like for the ordinary people of Ashby when the castle was under seige during the English Civil Wars. It is not available on the internet but some still images can be seen below.

More still images from the fil and a summary of the story can be seen here.

Charlie's War

This was our second historical drama made with Rising Stars Drama School over the summer of 2014. The script was written by Wendy Freer and it tells of the true experiences of a real man from Whitwick during the First World War. The wife in this story is entirely fictitious but we aimed to show that the workhouse was still fully operational at this time.

Charlie's War is not available on the internet but images from the film can be seen here.

Digital Storytelling

In February and March of 2014 we worked with members of the St Helen's Church community in Ashby to enable them to produce their own personal digital stories.

This project has its own page here.
