The Ferrers Murder

In 1760, Lawrence Shirley, the 4th Earl Ferrers of Staunton Harold Hall, shot and fatally wounded his steward, John Johnson. In this film, the children of Grace Dieu Manor School re-enact the story. To view the film, please email us.

Thomas Pestell, a 17th-century vicar of Packington

Thomas Pestell, and his father, also called Thomas Pestell, supported the Royalist cause during the English Civil Wars. As a result, Pestell was ejected from his church and all his property was sequestered. This film shows how it happened and what happened next. More pictures from the film can be seen here.

An Interview with Anthony Harris

 

Pat Collins Fair has been coming to Ashby de la Zouch since 1875 and it is still owned and run by the same family today. Anthony Harris, the current CEO, is part of the Collins family through his father's marriage to the granddaughter of Pat Collins. Here he talks about the history of the fair and his family.
This filmed interview was arranged as part of the events commemorating 800 years of Ashby's street fair.
